PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a device by detecting the change of axle-to-axle distance between a 1st and 2nd gears to be measured and a master gear in a 1st and 2nd periods based on detection output from a meshing period detection part. CONSTITUTION:The master gear 12 is so formed that it is engaged with the 1st and the 2nd gears 40 and 42 to be measured which are different in one of subitems for setting the item of the gear, for example, a tooth-trace direction. The indexes 34a and 34b for detecting position provided on the gear 12 are detected by position sensors 26a and 26b mounted on a master gear supporting part 14 when the gear 12 turns. Then, a displacement detection signal Sa from a displacement sensor 25 and position detection signals Sb and Sc from the sensors 26a and 26b are supplied to a control circuit part 27. While a driving signal Dm is supplied to a motor 16 and a 1st and 2nd tooth-trains 32a and 32b in the gear 12 mesh with the gears 40 and 42 based on gear discrimination signals S1 and S2 and the signals Sa-Sc, the change of the axle-to-axle distance between the gear 12 and the gears 40 and 42 is detected in the circuit part 27 to display 28 a signal Dd for displaying. |
