3-Demethyl-4-fluoromevalonic acid derivatives, a process for the preparation thereof, pharmaceutical products based on these compounds, the use thereof, and intermediates 3-Demethyl-4-fluoromevalonic acid derivatives of the formula I, and the corresponding dihydroxy carboxylic acid derivatives of the formula II <IMAGE> in which R, X and Y have the stated meanings, processes for the preparation of these compounds, the use thereof as medicaments, and pharmaceutical products are described. In addition, new intermediates for the preparation of the compounds of the formula I and formula II are described.
