A chassis provides a mounting for a disc magazine, a disc drive, a disc selector, a pair of loading mechanisms, a disc holder, disc player, buffer store and an unloading unit. The disc magazine is supported on a guide bar and rail and can be moved to a selected position by a cable connected to the disc drive. The first loading mechanism extracts the selected disc and the second provides transfer into the playing unit. At the end of playing the disc is transferred into the buffer. While the next disc is being played, the disc in the buffer is unloaded and re-entered into the magazine. The cycle is then repeated.
