PURPOSE:To decrease a winding set and curling and to improve the transport characteristic in an automatic developing machine by curling a paper base after coating with polyolefin at specific relative humidity with the side coated with emulsion layers on the outer side and hardening the film of a hydrophilic colloidal layer in such a manner that the degree of swelling of said layer has a specific value or below. CONSTITUTION:The base paper after polyolefin coating of the photographic paper having at least one layer of silver halide photographic emulsion layers on one side of the paper base, both surfaces of which are coated with the polyolefin is curved at 20-80% relative humidity with the side coated with the emulsion layers on the outer side and the film of the hydrophilic colloidal layer on the side having the silver halide is so hardened that the degree of swelling of said layer attains <=3.0. A hardening agent may be used to harden the film until the degree of swelling attains <=3.0 value. The winding set and curling are decreased in this way and the transport characteristic within the automatic developing machine is improved.
