PURPOSE:To decrease the burden of a host device and to execute the suitable recovering processing for a peripheral device sub-system by clearing a recovering processing method by the host device in an error status to report to the host device. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape controller (MTC) 1 is connected to a host device 2 and plural magnetic tape devices (MTU) 3. A microprocessor 22 of the MTC 1 detects the presence and absence of the abnormality during the instruction execution or after the execution of the instruction, classifies the abnormal place when the abnormality is detected, determines the method of the re-trial for the classified abnormal place and stores it into a status storing part 21. The contents stored in a status storing part 21 are sent through a host device connecting part 11 to the host device 2 and the method of the re- trial is designated. The host device 2 executes the re-trial by the requested method and executes the error recovering processing. Thus, the burden of the host device is decreased and the suitable error recovering processing can be executed. |
