Such a circuit arrangement is required especially in the development, testing and handling of radio-frequency assemblies. The terminating impedance is to be generated in connection with high absorption power, freedom from wear and high operating convenience. For this purpose, the invention provides that the input signal of the assembly is first divided in a power divider and fed to two line paths, one of which contains the assembly and the other one of which contains a 0...360@ phase shifter in series with an adjustable amplifier and a three-port directional conductor with an absorber connected to its third port. The signal component passing through the assembly as a forward voltage wave is absorbed in the absorber of the directional line, and the signal component passing through the directional conductor, processed with the appropriate phase angle and amplitude, reaches the assembly as return voltage wave. <IMAGE>
