The component is moved linearly at a constant speed w.r.t. two light barriers (4) inclined w.r.t. each other at an acute angle (5) in a plane. The plane intersects ideally shaped connecting wires (1) perpendicularly. The positions of the wires in the plane w.r.t. each other or to the component are determined by evaluating speed and time. A first light barrier can be arranged perpendicular to the direction (11) of motion and the angle between the light barriers can be 45 deg. At least two planes with at least two light barriers can be set up in the region of the connecting wires. ADVANTAGE - Reliable and highly accurate detection of faulty connecting wires.
