In the serial comparison circuit according to the subject of the invention, on each cycle only two binary digits are compared to each other in a comparison circuit (1), and the result is stored in flipflop (2). The comparison circuit shown in Fig. 1 has only one result output G, which has high potential if the binary comparison digit is less than or equal to the binary reference digit at input M. With this serial comparison circuit shown in Fig. 1, a comparison circuit according to Fig. 6 or 7 is used. The serial comparison circuit shown in Fig. 2 has three outputs (I, S, K), of which output I has high potential if the binary comparison digit is greater than the binary reference digit, output S has high potential if the binary comparison digit is equal to the binary reference digit, and output K has high potential if the binary comparison digit is less than the binary reference digit. <IMAGE>
