PURPOSE:To improve a traveling property, wear resistance and scratching resistance by incorporating 0.01-5wt.% specific inorg. particles into the film. CONSTITUTION:The various characteristics necessary as the base film for magnetic recording are improved by compounding the certain specific particles into the polyester film in which >=80% of the repeating structure unit has an ethylene terephthalate unit or ethylene-2, 6-naphthalene unit. The particles to be compounded with the film are the inorg. particles having >=8 Mohs' hardness and <=5mum average grain size and the compounding ratio thereof is specified to 0.01-5wt.%. The traveling system having a tension meter V is used for evaluation of the wear resistance. The film for the magnetic recording medium having the excellent wear resistance, scratching resistance, traveling property and electromagnetic characteristics is obtd. in this way. |
