A mixture of two or more different particulate materials, each one of which materials has a different coefficient of friction in terms of sliding, is separated by utilizing the differences in speeds generated by application of a force to said mixture in order to generate the movement of said mixture over a surface as a function of its coefficient of friction in terms of sliding. <IMAGE>
