The method for detecting the power frequency for driving an appliance not by pressing a power frequency selection key includes 50Hz selecting process for setting a memory of a microprocessor with a flag representing 50Hz at 51th outer interrupt signal when an inner counter countes inner interrupt signal 100 times, 60Hz selecting process for selecting 60Hz flag at 61th outer interrupt signal when the inner counter countes inner interrupt signal 60 times, and resetting process for re-executing the counting process when the inner counter doesn't count the inner interrupt signal 60 times even when the outer counter counts the outer interrupt signal 61 times.
