A description is given of a wiper system having an operating switch for presetting various modes of operation, for example also intermittent operation, in which wiper system as the vehicle is being parked the operating switch is forcibly reset to its off position via an operating element. This measure is intended to prevent damage on restarting the vehicle to a wiper which has possibly frozen up in the meantime, or to the then blocked wiper motor.
