In order to provide a chain wheel set, which is detachably fastened on a tread crank for bicycles provided with a freewheel, star-shaped arms on which the chain wheel set can be fastened being integrally formed on the tread crank, which chain wheel set can, on the one hand, be fitted and removed very rapidly and with little effort, in the event of a blockage, on the other hand, the chain wheel set and the gear-shift mechanism becoming uncoupled, it is proposed that the arms (3) of the tread crank (1) be connected in a catching manner to the chain wheel set (2), the catch-type connection being constructed so as to be blocked in the drive rotational direction (A) and to be released counter to the drive rotational direction (A) of the tread crank (1). <IMAGE>
