PURPOSE:To prevent disconnection of electrodes and short circuiting between electrodes by coating one of a pair of electrodes facing each other with an insulator. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes are provided to substrates 11, 12 and a liquid crystal 21 is packed therebetween through a sealing spacer 18. A terminal electrode 19 drawn to the outer side of the spacer 18 by a lead electrode from a counter electrode 15 is coated with an insulating layer 20. Inorg. insulators such as SiO, SiO2 or the like and polyimide, polyamide and other org. insulators are usable for the layer 20. Thus, the disconnection of the electrodes and the short circuiting between the electrodes 17d and 19 are prevented. |
