PURPOSE:To increase the read operation speed by providing a light receiving body which receives afterglow of a phosphor, which is irradiated by a light emitting body, and converts it to an electric signal. CONSTITUTION:An optical memory consists of a light emitting body 11 which converts an electric signal to an optical signal, a phosphor 12 which has an afterglow characteristic and receives irradiating light L1 from the light emitting body 11, and a light receiving body 13 which receives afterglow L2 of the phosphor 12 and converts it to read information of the electric signal. The afterglow time of the phosphor 12 can be set in a wide range by selection of a fluorescent material. Since reception of afterglow L2 has not an influence upon the storage state of the phosphor 12 at all, it can be always in the read-out state. Thus, the read operation speed is increased. |
