The swashplate compressor has a cylindrical body (1) with end covers (2,3). The compressor has a number of double acting pistons (15) which operate in bores parallel to the drive shaft (4). The pistons (15) are actuated by a swashplate (11) which is mounted on a transverse pin (10) on the rear drive shaft (4b). The swashplate (11) has a second transverse pin which engages an oblique slot (13) in the front drive shaft (4a). The rear drive shaft (4b) is mounted in bearings (35,36) in a tubular extension (34b) of a piston (34) which is moved by pressure in the pressure chamber. This movement of the piston (34) changes the swashplate angle (beta) and so changes the flow through the compressor. USE - Compressors for refrigeration systems.
