By means of this method it is monitored whether persons penetrate a space or whether objects are inserted therein. For this purpose, this space is watched by means of a camera or a similar device, the picture which is taken in the quiescent state is stored, the pictures generated in the operating state are compared to the stored pictures and an alarm is raised in the case of deviations. The electronics connected downstream of the camera and the store (memory) would have to be very complex per se. According to the invention, at least one lens system is connected in front of the camera. By means of it, only important areas are imaged on the camera. In this way, the electronic system can be simplified and the store can be made smaller.
