PURPOSE:To obtain a feed having remarkable growth-promotion effect and capable of breeding and fattening animals in extremely healthy state by compounding a digested medium obtained by culturing a mushroom on a lignin- rich grassy material. CONSTITUTION:A lignin-rich grassy material such as waste of gramineous plants (e.g. rice hull or corncob) or buckwheat chaff, pampas grass or bamboo grass is crushed to pieces having a bulk specific gravity of 0.15-0.35, preferably about 0.25 and is compounded with nutrient sources such as rice bran and wheat bran to obtain a medium. Mushroom such as Flammulina velutipes or Pleurotus ostreatus is cultured on the medium and, optionally, the grown mushroom is harvested. The obtained digested medium is compounded to a feed for cattle or poultry in an amount of <=50%, preferably 3-50% in terms of dried weight. |
