A suction cleaning appliance has a dirt-receiving container, into which a suction pipe with a suction cleaning tool leads. The dirt is retained in the collecting container via a filter. In order to prevent environmentally harmful dirt from getting into the air when emptying the dirt-receiving container, provision is made for a discharge device, with which the dirt is transported to a disposal container connected to the dirt-receiving container. The suction cleaning appliance is suitable especially for disposing of environmentally harmful dirt, since the latter passes into the airtightly closeable disposal container, without the lid of the dirt-receiving container having to be opened.
