Process for forming strong coatings on the rigid surfaces of furniture, interior decorative elements and the like, and panel obtained using the said process. The process comprises placing a sheet of fabric on the surface which is to be coated, which is tensioned in order to eliminate wrinkles, laying a layer of transparent resin on this sheet in the molten state which is then subjected to final curing. The panel comprises a board of natural or agglomerated wood covered on one of its surfaces by an extended wrinkle-free fabric covered with a layer of transparent resin. <IMAGE>
