PURPOSE:To narrowly and high accurately form track width by forming a gap material at a cutting plane with cutting a magnetic head material consisting of a yoke and a coil mechanically, and forming a magnetic gap with laminating with the cutting plane once again. CONSTITUTION:A thin film magnetic head material 30 in which a frame shaped yoke of one layer to which a coil is wound on a substrate 32 and a pair of lead wires 34 and 35 is drawn is formed by a thin film forming process. At the stage, a magnetic gap is not formed. A protecting material 36 is coat-formed on a yoke side 30A of the magnetic head material 30. After that, it is cut along an l-l line and is divided into magnetic head materials 37 and 38, and after a gap material to have the thickness of gap width at a cutting plane 37A is formed, it is bonded in the same condition as the condition before cutting. The gap material 39 goes to a magnetic gap alpha, and a thin film magnetic head in which the thickness of the yoke 31 goes to track width beta is constituted. Since the track width is determined by the thickness of the yoke 31, the narrow track can be formed high accurately. |
