RADIATION PHOTOGRAPHIC PHOTOSENSITIVE ELEMENT AND X RAY IMAGE FORMATION

PURPOSE: To prevent an increase in silver coating amt. and residual contamination by using a non-photosensitive silver bromoiodide grain having a low content of silver iodide with a spectral sensitization dye adsorbed on the surface to form a sharp adsorbent (J band). CONSTITUTION: This element includes a spectral sensitization silver halide emulsion layer formed on at least one side of a transparent supporting base and a hydrophilic colloid layer between the supporting base and the silver halide emulsion layer contg. a non-photosensitive silver halide grain with a spectral sensitization dye adsorbed on the surface. The dye adsorbed on the grain has absorption in the electromagnetic spectrum region corresponding to the spectral sensitivity of the silver halide emulsion. The non-photosensitive silver halide grain having adsorbed a dye to form J band has 0.01-0.1μm average size. The silver bromoiodide has a low content of silver iodide. A significant loss of sensitivity, residual contamination, the image instability in storage and the excessive thickening of the element are prevented.
