PURPOSE:To resolve the problems of the thermal durability of a head and to eliminate the need for a high-voltage accelerating electric field by varying an ink surface tension at a nozzle opening end according to a voltage applied to a control electrode provided on each ink discharge nozzle. CONSTITUTION:When printing paper is fed by a paper feed roller driven by a drive motor, an ink drip is formed according to printing information, and a printing is conducted. A nozzle plate 2 is formed by laminating two members each of which is vapor deposited with metallic film electrodes 18, 19. The heating by a heater 17 acts so as to reduce a surface tension. The electric conduction to the heater 17 is performed through an electrode 16. The voltage application to the electrodes 18, 19 at a nozzle opening end causes a liquid surface with the reduced surface tension to be extruded out of the nozzle opening end. |
