PURPOSE:To eliminate the difference of a recording and reproducing property due to the spacing difference of a semidiameter direction position and to obtain a stable reproducing picture by making the gap width of the respective channels of a multi-channel magnetic head different by at least one part. CONSTITUTION:In a multi-channel magnetic head to record or to reproduce an image signal to a disk shaped magnetic recording medium, a part at which abutting condition with the recording medium is bad is changed by a spacing quantity between the magnetic head and the recording medium. That is, the head gap width of the channel of the part at which the spacing quantity is large is set narrower than the head gap width of the channel of which abutting condition is good. In a 4-channel thin film magnetic head, for instance, gap width W1 of magnetic heads a' and d' of both outer sides is made narrower than gap W2 of magnetic heads b' and c' of a center part. Thus, an output from any channel is made constant stably. |
