PURPOSE:To shorten throughput time for continuously printing data, etc., by detecting the presence or absence of toner in a toner bottle at the time of test scanning after a power source is applied. CONSTITUTION:The controller is provided with a time limiting means 1 which outputs rotating signals to a photosensitive body rotating means 2 and the agitator rotating means 3 of the toner bottle as long as a photosensitive body 1 makes one turn after the power source is applied, and with an output means 6 which detects the home position of the photosensitive body with the aid of a home position sensor 4 during a period of time set by the time limiting means 1 and outputs a printing action enabled signal when a toner exhaustion detecting means 5 does not detect toner in the toner bottle. The presence or absence of toner in the toner bottle is detected in text scanning after the power source is applied, whereby toner exhaustion can be detected before a printing instruction is inputted. Thus, the throughput time for printing data can be shortened. |
