PURPOSE:To absorb the quantity of heat generated as the heat of a reaction for dissociating hydrogen from a hydrogen storage alloy, and to eliminate the need for cooling water for inhibiting the temperature rise of a laser medium gas by arranging the hydrogen storage alloy absorbing the heat generation of a discharge tube outside the discharge tube. CONSTITUTION:When high-frequency voltage is applied to a pair of counter electrodes 22, 23 from a high-frequency power supply 24, discharge is generated in a discharge tube 21, a laser medium gas on the inside is excited, and laser oscillation is generated in an optical resonator. The temperature of the laser medium gas in the discharge tube 21 is elevated with the laser oscillation, and the discharge tube 21 is heated. A hydrogen storage alloy 30 formed stuck fast to the discharge tube 21 is heated by heat transmitted from the discharge tube 21, a decomposition reaction is generated, and heat from the discharge tube 21 is absorbed with the decomposition reaction. Accordingly, the discharge tube 21 and the electrodes 22, 23 are cooled, thus inhibiting the temperature rise of the laser medium gas in the discharge tube 21. |
