PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body having high sensitivity, small residual potential, and high durability by providing a photosensitive layer contg. a specified compd. on an electroconductive base body. CONSTITUTION:An electrophotographic sensitive body having high sensitivity, small residual potential and high durability is obtd. when a photosensitive layer contg. at least one kind of asymmetric squarelium compd. expressed by the formula I and having high carrier-generating capacity is formed on an electroconductive base body. In the formula, either one of Ar1 and Ar2 satisfies the formula II and another satisfies the formula III. In the formula II, each R0-R2 is an H atom, halogen atom, alkyl group, alkoxy group, OH group, etc.; R3 is a (substituted) alkyl group; X is an atomic group contg. at least one hetero atom other than N and necessary for forming at least a fused ring consisting of at least 2 kinds of atom as a whole. In the formula III, each R6 and R7 is a (substituted) 1-20C alkyl group or a (substituted) phenyl group when it is independent of each other, or an alkylene group when R6 and R7 form in combination a 3-7 membered N-contg. heterocyclic ring; R8 is an H atom, OH group, methyl group, trifluoromethyl group, halogen atom, or a carboxyl group. |
