<p>A head rest (10) for mounting on an automotive seat back comprises a rod (22) fixed to the back, the rod (22) having a generally horizontal mounting portion (28), a frame (14) having a pad thereon, a mounting bracket (42) secured to the frame (14), the bracket (42) attaching the frame (14) to the rod (22) for pivotal movement of the frame (14) forward and backward, and a frictional bushing (40) sandwiched between the bracket (42) and the frame (14). The bushing (40) has a curved portion (60) cupped over the mounting portion of the rod (22) and fastening means clamping the frame (14) and bracket (42) together and biasing the friction bushing (40) against the rod (22) to resist pivoting of the frame (14) about the rod (22). The rod (22) further includes stop pins (74, 76) to limit the pivoting of the frame (14) about the rod (22).</p> |
