A L-glutamic acid is prepd. by aerobic-culturing variation bacteria CS871003(KFCC 10457) having L-glutamic acid producibility [that belongs to brevibacterium and is strongly sensitive to lysozyme; when sensitive to nonionic surfactant, increases sensitivity with increasing C number of satd. aliphatic acid of surfactant; lacks urea-resolvability but suddenly accelerates bacteria when its specified concn. exceed in saccharine medium at 30-37 deg. C and at pH 6-8.
