PURPOSE:To increase the charging efficiency of a cadmium negative electrode plate and improve the practical capacity density by containing ferric oxide 0.25wt.%-20wt.% against the whole cadmium quantity. CONSTITUTION:A cadmium negative electrode plate contains ferric oxide (Fe2O3) 0.25wt.%-20wt.% against the whole cadmium quantity. When ferric oxide 1wt.% is contained against the whole cadmium quantity, for example, the charging efficiency is improved to 98% or above, this effect to improve the charging efficiency is not transitory, but it is continuous in the charge/discharge cycle. The negative electrode plate with the excellent charging efficiency is used, the potential charge of the negative electrode plate until hydrogen is generated at the time of a charge is detected as the change of the terminal voltage, thereby an alkaline secondary battery with easy change control and no reduction of an electrolyte and capable of being quickly charged is obtained. |
