PURPOSE: To mechanicadly remove undesired contaminative toner from a photoconductive surface by activating transfer corotron in a short time previous to first copying in the case of copying operation. CONSTITUTION: The transfer corotron 30 is activated in a short time previous to the leading edge of a developed toner image on the recording surface of a photoreceptor belt 14, so that electrostatic peripheral electric field is formed. In a housing 48, a seal 50 prevents the toner scraped from the belt 14 from being scattered to an upstream side and a blade 36 scrapes the toner remaining on an image formed surface from the surface when the belt 14 moves in a direction shown by an arrow and pushes it up into a reservoir 60. With such constitution, the contaminative toner undesired in terms of forming the image such as the toner gathered on the back surface of the blade 36 in the midst of stopping is removed and gathered by the electrostatic peripheral electric field by the corotron, and prevented from adhering to the succeeding recording area of the image forming member. Therefore, copying quality is improved. |
