PURPOSE:To effect NOx reducing process effectively under maintaining the good condition of engine output by a method wherein fuel and combustion air at the inlet port of the device is controlled and the amount of remaining oxygen is controlled in case oxygen is remaining in exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:An oxygen detector 6 detects whether the remaining oxygen in exhaust gas is optimum for the operating performance of the gas engine or not and a regulating valve 3 is opened in case the fuel is short for securing the inlet port condition of the gas engine 1 while the regulating valve 4 is opened to secure the optimum performance of the gas engine 1 in case the combustion air is short. On the other hand, the oxygen detector 7 detects whether the remaining oxygen in the exhaust gas is within the limit zone of NOx reduction of a NOx converter to control the injection amount of a burner 15, attached to an after- burner 5, and suffice the NOx reduction conditions of the NOx converter 9. According to this method, the remaining oxygen amount in the exhaust gas is controlled at the optimum condition under maintaining the good condition of the engine output while the production of NOx may be reduced. |
