A method for processing a silver halide color photographic material including a step of developing the material with a developer containing an aromatic primary amine color developing agent and at least one compounds represented by the following general formulae (Ia) and (Ib): <IMAGE> (Ia) wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or an unsubstituted alkyl group; R5, R6 and R7, which may be the same or different, each represents an unsubstituted alkylene group; X1 and X2, which may be the same or different, each represents <IMAGE> -O-, -S-, -CO-, -SO2 or -SO-, or a combination thereof, and R8 represents a hydrogen atom or an unsubstituted alkyl group; and m and n, which may be the same or different, each is 0, 1, 2 or 3; and <IMAGE> (Ib) wherein R13 represents a substituted alkylene group; and R9, R10, R11 and R12, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group. The developer has superior stability and reduces fogging in continuous processing.
