PURPOSE:To reduce adverse influence of iron oxide deposited on the inner wall of a casting nozzle by repairing the inner wall with a repairing material contg. specified amts. of MgO, Al2O3, and Cr2O3. CONSTITUTION:The repairing material consists essentially of >=1 kind among MgO, Al2O3, and Cr2O3, and is a powdery composition contg. >=60wt.% of the components. The material is sprayed or applied on the inner surface of the casting nozzle contaminated with iron oxide to prevent the direct reaction between the iron oxide and filling sand, and the activity of the iron oxide can be reduced, The MgO, Al2O3, and Cr2O3 alone or their composite oxide are preferably used as the raw material. When the material contains impurities such as the oxides other than the component, carbides, and carbon, the effect might not be sufficiently produced at <60wt.% of the three components. |
