NONWOVEN FABRIC TO WHICH LOCAL WATER JET TREATMENT IS APPLIED, AND METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PURPOSE: To obtain a bonded nonwoven fabric which is bulky and dense and resembles cloth by subjecting a nonbonded nonwoven fabric to a water jet entangle treatment in order to execute spot entangle bonding. CONSTITUTION: The combined webs consisting of webs 2, 4 and 6 are passed together with a lining member 8 along a perforated drum 18 and the water from a water jet manifold 20 is injected under high pressure to the webs to cause entangle. The spot bonded web laminate is passed together with a lining member 22 along a rotary perforated drum 32 and the high pressure water jet from the water jet manifold 34 is injected thereto. An elastomeric or nonelastic laminate may also be subjected to spot entangle bonding by passing a single layer fiber nonwoven fabric adjacent to one or both of, for example, the drum 18 and the drum 32. The vacuum manifolds 16 and 30 remove the moisture to improve the water jet bonding.
