PURPOSE:To cool inner layer of a wire rod coil as the same cooling as surface layer by arranging injecting nozzle of prescribed cooling medium into hollow core part of the wire rod coil under condition of sealing the upper and lower face of the wire rod coil charged in a cooling vessel. CONSTITUTION:The cooling apparatus 11 provides the cooling vessel 31 for storing cooling medium 21 and a lifting device 51 for charging/discharging the wire rod coil 41. For example, the coil 41 is laid on a flat-plate shaped tray 61, and after heating while continuously shifting in roller-hearth type heating furnace, the coil 41 is charged with a lifting device 51 together with the tray 61 into the cooling medium 21 in the cooling vessel at ejecting side of the furnace. On the upper face of the coil 41 sealing the lower face with the tray 61, a carrying pipe 71a having a nozzle 71 at the lower end and a liftable flat plate shaped upper cover 81 fixed to the carrying pipe at center part thereof is abutted, to seal the upper face of the coil and also the nozzle 71 is set to the hollow core part 41a in the coil. Then, the pressurized cooling medium 21 is injected from the nozzle 71. |
