IMPROVED TRAY FOR FOOD

PURPOSE: To obtain a relatively low-cost plastic tray having an easy manufacture, good color and surface smoothness by reinforcing at least one outside layer of each side of a core layer of the tray by a specific amount of a glass flake. CONSTITUTION: A core layer can contain various type other polymer such as a polyethylene to occupy about 25 to 90% of a thickness of a compsite structure. An outer layer containing a PET and glass flake, or other material is provided at each side of a core material as needed. The flake can exist about 10 to 60 wt.% of total weight of the layer. It is important to selectively exist the reinforcing flame at the outer layer of the composite structure to give remarkably physical properties of a low cost. An article manufactured from the composite material has remarkably smooth and uniform surface irrespective of the size relative to the thickness of the layer in size of the flake. The product exhibits a remarkable combination of the rigidity and toughness.
