PURPOSE:To enable a favorable images with a white ground to be printed on an object even when the object is thin, by using a white-colored film as a base, and providing a hiding layer on the side of an adhesive layer. CONSTITUTION:An image-receiving material for thermal transfer has a four- layer construction comprising a dyeable resin layer 1, a white colored film 2, a hiding layer 3 and an adhesive layer 4. As the dyeable resin layer 1, resins which can be effectively dyed with a sublimable dye can be used, for example, thermoplastic resins such as polyester resins, polyaryl resins and polyamide resins. The brightness of the while-colored film is preferably about 75-90%, and a variety of films with white pigments dispersed therein can be used as the white-colored film. As the hiding layer 3, a resin with a pigment or a powder dispersed therein or a metal can be ordinarily used. The adhesive layer 4 is desirably of a non-hardenable type with excellent normal-condition preservability. Since the white-colored film is used as the base, the ground for images is white, which enables favorable images with a white ground to be printed. |
