PURPOSE:To efficiently read an image by deciding the scanning direction of an original image from the size of an output image and the size of a photosensitive material and rotating the original image so that it may be read if necessary. CONSTITUTION:When the original of the color image is separated in terms of color to be read by a plane scanning type image reader and the read image signal is properly processed to expose the photosensitive material in order to simultaneously form the plates for printing of C(cyanogen), M(magenta), Y(yellow) and K(black), the original is automatically rotated by 90 deg. to be scanned so that a scanning time for reading the image is made minimum from the relation between the output size of the image of C, M, Y and K which are exposed on the photosensitive material and the size(width) of the photosensitive material. Namely, the original 1 placed sideways on a read part is rotated by 90 deg. to be scanned when the scanning time in case that the original is placed lengthwise and read becomes shorter from the output size of the image and the size of the photosensitive material. Thus, the image can be efficiently read. |
