PURPOSE:To facilitate tapping and to improve an energy saving effect by disposing a magnetic shielding plate having conductive and nonmagnetic properties between an induction heating coil around a nozzle and a sliding gate. CONSTITUTION:The induction heating coil 6 is provided around the nozzle 5 for tapping and the magnetic shielding plate 8 having the conductive and nonmagnetic properties is disposed between the coil 6 and the sliding gate 7. High-frequency current is imparted to the induction heating coil 6 and the metal in a runner 5a is inductively heated at the time of tapping the molten metal 22 in a vessel 3. A sliding plate 13 is then moved to match holes 12a, 16a and to tap the molten metal. The magnetic flux from the coil 6 melts the metal in the runner 5a to facilitate the tapping at this time. The magnetic flux from the coil 6 generates eddy current in the magnetic shielding plate 8, thereby preventing the induction heating of the gate 7 and improving the energy saving effect. |
