PURPOSE:To improve turning performance by carrying out a delay control or a phase inversion control as a rule in the same phase steering zone while on the other band, prohibiting such controls and carrying out a proportion control in a defined condition that it is undesirable to carry out such controls. CONSTITUTION:In the captioned device which controls the drive of a rear wheel steering means 22 for steering rear wheels 6 (6L, 6R) in accordance with the steering of front wheels by a control means 24 to steer the rear wheels 6, a defined condition detecting means 29 for detecting a defined condition in which a delay control or a phase inversion control for making the rear wheels 6 a non-following condition with respect to the front wheels in the same phase steering zone is prohibited while carrying out a proportional control is provided. In the control means 24, at the time of steering the rear wheels 6 with the same phase as that of the front wheels, the delay control or phase inversion control is carried out for a defined time from the start of steering of the front wheels by a control portion 24b whereas, at the time of detecting a defined condition, the delay control or phase inversion control is prohibited to carry out a proportion control by a prohibiting portion 24a. |
