Method, sealing elements and apparatus for constructing a diaphragm wall

Method of constructing a diaphragm wall in an area of ground to be sealed. A wide trench is sunk in the area of ground and filled with a hardening impervious diaphragm mass. Placed in the diaphragm wall are sealing elements in the form of sealing film strips, sealing panels or sealing plates which are attached to one another in a sealed-off manner via connecting elements. In the (sufficiently) hardened diaphragm wall, first of all boreholes are made at a distance from one another in the longitudinal direction of the diaphragm wall and narrow trenches are made between the boreholes. The width of the narrow trenches is a fraction of the width of the wide trench and the borehole diameter. The sealing elements are lowered into the narrow trenches, and the connecting elements are lowered into the boreholes. Sealing elements for the method described and an apparatus for carrying out the method are also specified. <IMAGE>
