PURPOSE:To increase saturation magnetization, and to reduce coercive force by using specific hexagonal system ferrite magnetic powder. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic powder for magnetic recording is formed of hexagonal system ferrite magnetic powder shown in formula. In formula, A represents Ba, Sr, Pb or Ca and D one kind or more selected from the tetravalent metals of Ti, Sn and Ge and N=5.5-10.0, 0.7<=X<=1.4, 0<(X-Y)<=1.4 and 0<alpha<=0.35 hold. The Ba ferrite, Sr ferrite, Pb ferrite and Ca ferrite of M type and W type hexagonal systems or these solid solution or ion substitution products or the like are contained in hexagonal system ferrite. |
