<p>PURPOSE:To reclaim large amounts of scraps, etc., into the original composition at a low cost by applying hydrogen reduction to the compound of an alloy containing rare earth element to reduce a mother alloy and then reducing the compound of the rare earth element by means of alkaline (earth) metal. CONSTITUTION:The compound of an alloy containing mother metal and rare earth element, such as scrap, is subjected to oxidizing decarburizing treatment. Subsequently, hydrogen reduction is first carried out to reduce the compound of the mother metal, such as Co, Fe, and Cu. Successively, the reduction of the compound of the rare earth element is carried out by using a powder of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, such as Ca. Since the generation of large quantity of heat can be prevented by adopting the above two-stage reduction treatment, the burning of a reducing furnace can be prevented.</p> |
