In the case of an electric hotplate (1), a lower closing-off cover (9) consisting of chromium steel or the like is fixed to the outer circumference via a connecting seat (10) on the finely finished inner circumference of an outer flange edge (4) of the hotplate body (2) in such a way that said connecting seat (10) closes in sealing fashion in the manner of a press fit when the electric hotplate has cooled, but becomes looser with increasing heating of the electric hotplate, until it is opened in the manner of a valve. At the centre, the closing-off cover (9) is fixed by an axial securing means (23) against detachment when the connecting seat (10) is loosened. Furthermore, to receive the outwardly guided supply lead (18) of the heating resistors (7), there is provided a bushing (30) with at least one bushing body (31) which has a tubular sheet-metal housing (32), an insulating body (33) within the latter and the supply lead passing through said insulating body, any hollow spaces and gaps between the individual parts being filled and therefore closed by a sealing compound (40), so that the bushing (30) is substantially hermetically sealed. <IMAGE>
