<p>PURPOSE:To increase a number of stored sheets upon nongathering, by providing a moving means for moving a discharge unit so that the discharge unit is positioned above the uppermost tray during nongathering, and the distance between the uppermost tray and the discharge unit is greater than a predetermined space between a plurality of trays. CONSTITUTION:During gathering, a recording medium is led to a discharge unit 11 by a conveying belt 4 while being clamped between the belt 4 and a constant tension spring 16 which makes contact with the belt 4, and is then discharged into one of a plurality of trays 7 which is selected by the discharge unit. After completion of the discharge, the discharge unit is moved by a discharge unit moving means by a designated space between the trays, and then is stopped at the next tray. Further, during nongathering, the discharge unit is moved above the uppermost tray 7 by means of the moving means and is positioned. Further, the recording medium is discharged from the discharge unit onto the uppermost tray. In this arrangement, the distance therebetween is set to be greater than the space between the trays.</p> |
