The filter is an assembly of juxtaposed layers including a filter layer formed of a uniformly porous web comprising randomly distributed, randomly interentangled, synthetic polymeric blown microfibers that are less than 10 microns in diameter and a support layer of highly porous, relatively stiff, light weight sheet material, more porous than the filter layer.
