In a pair of skis, especially a pair of alpine skis, consisting of two skies which can be exchanged in accordance with skiing ability, one or more reinforcing strips (1, 2; 3, 4) of rigid material, especially metal, preferably aluminium, are arranged on each of the two skis between the binding (5) and the front contact line (6) and/or between the binding (5) and the rear contact line (7), transversely to the longitudinal axis 8 of the ski, the strip arrangement (1, 2; 3, 4) of the left-hand ski (L) being designed as a mirror image of the strip arrangement (1, 2; 3, 4) of the right-hand ski (R) and the reinforcing strips (2, 4) in the rear part (11) of the ski being arranged, relative to a central transverse axis (12), as a mirror image of the reinforcing strips (1, 3) in the front part (13) of the ski, as a result of which a selective rise in the edge pressure distribution and hence a different control behaviour of the skis is achieved. <IMAGE>
