A brace for a piece of furniture having several superimposed drawers allows only one drawer to be drawn out at a time from the body of the piece of furniture. In addition, each drawer is automatically drawn to and kept in its closure position. The brace has a rotary slide (12) rotated by a switching cam (16) that follows the movement of the drawer (11) and pulls with itself the rotary slide (12) over a short distance. The rotary slide (12) remains in that position until it is unlocked by the switching cam when the drawer (11) is drawn in and the rotary slide (12) pulls with itself the drawer (11) when it returns to its initial position. This brace is particularly useful for office furniture.
