LASER BEAM-ALIGNMENT METHOD AND DEVICE

PURPOSE: To prevent a beam from colliding with a transport system or a steam generator by driving a laser transmitter and a laser receiver between the initial position and an alignment position and calculating the position of an alignment laser beam. CONSTITUTION: In the starting block, laser is aligned against each detector 22 of a laser receiver 16 and a laser transmitter 14. The position of the alignment laser beam is calculated by moving or further reversing the receiver 16 and the transmitter 14 from the initial position to an alignment position by mean of a driving device, with the transmitter 14 aligned with the receiver 16. Then, with a high output laser 12 directed to the transmitter 14, a beam is transmitted to the receiver 16. This system is applied for example to a device that welds a sleeve 30 into the fine tubing 32 of a steam generator for a nuclear reactor.
